How to install ImageMagick on Ubuntu

ImageMagick is a free and open source software used to edit images. You can use it on its own through the command line interface using the convert command. If you’re using WordPress and needs the ImageMagick library, you have to install the imagick PHP extension.

To check if it is already installed, you can use which convert – No output means it’s not installed:

[email protected]:/var/www$ which convert
[email protected]:/var/www$

We then use the Ubuntu reposity to install ImageMagick and check again if it has been installed using the which convert command:

[email protected]:/var/www$ sudo apt update
[email protected]:/var/www$ sudo apt install imagemagick
[email protected]:/var/www$ which convert
/usr/bin/convert
[email protected]:/var/www$

And you are done!
